The Enforcer

A robot that complements remote security guard operators.

Sure it’s easy to think that this robot pales in comparison to an on premise human security guard. And yes, in many cases it cannot keep up with a human. But what does a human security guard really do? Witness events, call for police, and have a reassuring presence. The first two are covered by the robot assistant, in many ways better than an onsite human. The last not quite as well. But perhaps it can go full dirty harry and crash into the baddies, or bump into them with noises.

The key is that private security guards skilled at first incidence response will be able to oversee and respond to multiple locations. The removal of the physical presence constraint will increase demand for skilled operators and increase their value. As the costs of these type of robots decrease, the need for unskilled guards will fall reducing their associated value.
